Editor's note: Poker News starts the year so that, by some industry experts about the past, present, and of course on the future of poker question. The opinions of the experts will give you an update on the poker scene provide and we will try to find out how the poker scene in 2009 and the years thereafter will continue to develop. We would like to point out that the views of Poker experts are not necessarily the views of Poker News represents.
At our present questions, inter alia, the following expert opinion: Matthew Parvis (editor of the "Bluff Magazine"), Pauly "Dr.Pauly" McGuire (the author of Tao of Poker blog and editor of the "Bluff Magazine"), Nat Arem (founder of "PokerDB"), Matthew Savage (known tournament director and manager of the Commerce Casino poker room), Brian Basbough (the founder of Poker Royalty) and Barry Greenstein (High-stakes cash game and tournament players, Team PokerStars member Pro)
Today's question: If you have something at the 2009 WSOP could change – what would it be?
Nat Arem: I would like to view, if it simpler for the people would have to register. The best would be an online registration, but I do not really online, such as in online poker, so mean. It pleases me very well that it becomes easier every year. Optimally, it would be if everyone on the registry would say: "I was only 15 minutes in the queue, good job guys." I understand but in spite of everything not understand why such things can not be handled online. It would be relatively easy to a secure website to draw on his bank account which you entered and can then register online. There are quite a few e-verification systems. I do not know exactly how this is consistent with the provisions in this regard. I do not know whether it would be possible in principle, it would be but in any case, good for the number of participants, if the people could register online.
Matthew Parvis: A Live Final Table. This is the most important thing in poker productions, this would drastically change the game.
Brian Balsbaugh: Harrah's has in recent years, many positive changes in the WSOP and the WSOP itself is much better than they are still a few years ago. When I make a change could, I would ensure that fewer bracelet events played. When I talk with one of our players, they say that the value of a bracelet's has fallen. I understand why so Harrah act, but this approach leads to a lot of that money from the poker circuit discharged. The fees of 55 events will be paid and the money does not flow back into the circulation.
Barry Greenstein: I was just at a meeting of the Committee WSOP, where we talk about some changes have had. We try the WSOP every year to do better by putting on the actions of the previous year, discuss. In the last year there were more complaints than in previous years. So we have the structure and payouts and the case was adapted with the deals at the Final Table changed. We've done it a lot of problems to solve. Approximately halfway through the WSOP Jeffrey Pollack told me that the biggest complaints this year, the complaints about the food in the VIP area would have been. This shows that we had done a good job and that there're still some small problems, which need to be resolved. I think at this point many drüber think of how expensive it is to play poker and participate in these tournaments. We all hope that Harrah enough money with us and the other activities earned enough gamblers to their casinos to make them according to where the money in circulation can bring. The introduced into the circulation of money has been in recent years fewer and fewer and we hope that this trend will be reversed. We hope that we have additional revenue through advertising can achieve, with the additional money we want to improve the quality even further.
Dr. Pauly: The 9 November. He was only good for ESPN and Harrah. I think a one-week break, like the Superbowl, would be effective, but could just as the momentum from the main event taking the momentum which the main event so interesting – on Day 1 shop and two weeks later and World Champion to be a millionaire .
Jeffrey Pollack: We are still working on plans for the WSOP 2009, it will certainly be one or the other change, but that we want at this stage not yet detail. I think that we have a better solution in relation to the work of the players' agents in the WSOP need. There is too much business, while the tournament is already running. We want the business of the players' agents to develop a solid business. We want the players can rely on their agents with that solid business made. But the business must not be at the actual tournament game impact the flow of the game or the ESPN broadcasts must not be influenced. In this regard, there will certainly change.
